Staten Island daughter wows ‘em in lead role of Broadway’s ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — “Mrs. Doubtfire,” the new and hilarious musical comedy that officially opened on Broadway Sunday night at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, has a familiar face on its list of credits.

The show boasts Staten Islander Analise Scarpaci, whose voice rocks the stage and whose dramatic prowess is in top form.

Scarpaci, in the role of 15-year-old Lydia, the eldest of three children of Daniel and Miranda Hillard, is loving every minute of her Broadway run.

“Lydia is the moral compass of her family,” Scarpaci said. “And she is very protective of her siblings and very protective of her family as well.”

The story centers around Daniel Hillard (Rob McClure), a struggling, out-of-work actor, who will do anything for his kids. So, after losing custody in a messy divorce, he creates the kindly alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As his new character takes on a life of its own, “Mrs. Doubtfire” teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a dad.
